Abstract

1,035,491. Packaging machines. MOLINS ORGANISATION Ltd. March 7, 1963 [March 8, 1962], No. 8969/62. Heading B8C. Apparatus for packaging cigarettes or the like into containers, at least two rows at a time, comprises downwardly sloping vanes between which the cigarettes are fed to form columns, the rows being fed from the base of the columns in staggered arrangement into the container, each cigarette of an upper row thus being supported on and between two cigarettes of a row below. The spacing may be such as to produce the arrangement described in Specification 958,406. Cigarettes C fall from bands 1, 2 past oscillating, orientating and guiding means 6, 11 between vanes 10. The lowermost row rests on a fluted support 12. The bottom two rows are fed by a forked pusher 14 into the container 16, which descends in steps between transfer operations.
