Abstract
814,728. Ornamenting. VELVERAY CORPORATION. Aug. 15, 1955, No. 23499/55. Class 93 A flock printing machine comprises means for delivering flock to material L to be flocked which is posted between two electrodes G, H at a high potential difference the upper electrode G consisting of a plurality of cross bars 122 of wedge shaped cross section with their sides diverging downwardly and with rounded corners. Flock contained in a hopper A having a rotating shaft with stirrers 15 is fed by a rotating brush C in the hopper to a wire screen E which is suspended by a flexible belt from the top 10 of an enclosure J. The screen is vibrated by a cam 40 rotating on a shaft 41 striking a cam follower 39 on the screen. The flock passing through the screen falls through the electrode G on to the material L which is covered with adhesive. The material is conveyed by an endless belt M which passes over a driven roller 63 and two rollers 59, 60 which are adjustable for tensioning the belt. A glass plate N separates the belt from the solid electrode H mounted on a plate 186 insulated from a base frame 190. Flock left on the screen passes to a conveyer 105 which feeds it to a collector. The upper electrode G is mounted on two bars 134 which at either end pass between two rollers 137, 138 mounted in supports secured to the enclosure. The electrode is reciprocated transversely to direction of movement of the material by a pitman connected to lugs 143 on the electrode and to an eccentrically mounted cam on a driven shaft. The lower electrode H comprises a plate with downturned edges and spaced bars 182, 183. The electrodes are connected to a secondary winding of a variable transformer, one line being earthed. Alternatively both electrodes may be charged. All driven parts are driven from a motor through suitable gearing.
