Abstract
832,473. Gyratory crushers. MACLEOD, L. R. Sept. 30, 1958, No. 31170/58. Class 59 The gyratory head 4 of a crusher is mounted on a shaft 3 capable of axial movement under hydraulic control to adjust the crushing space between the mantle 5 and the concave 6, the shaft being journalled in a sleeve-like member 7 which is bored eccentrically to provide when driven by bevel gears 30, 34, a gyratory motion of the shaft about its upper bearing. The lower end of the shaft is bored to provide a cylinder to which fluid pressure is admitted above a piston 12 the bottom face of which forms a thrust bearing in contact with a disc 13 or a roller bearing. A pin 22 may be optionally provided to cause the piston to rotate with the shaft. The bevel ring 30, Fig. 3, is relieved of laterial movement due to wear of the member 7 by driving the latter through a toothed ring 29 which engages teeth formed directly on, or on a ring attached to, the lower end of the member 7. Radial clearance 21 is provided around the pressure feed-pipe 18 to provide for the eccentric movement of the bottom of the piston 12 to which it is attached.
