Abstract

1,130,248. Gyratory crushers. ALLISCHALMERS MFG. CO. 7 July, 1967 [25 July, 1966], No. 31472/67. Heading B2A. A spiderless gyratory crusher comprises a vertically-adjustable head 57 cooperating with a ring 20 and supported on a vertically-adjustable post 25, which is slidably supported in a stationary hub 12. The head has a depending skirt 58 which receives gyratory motion from an eccentric gyratory drive sleeve 63 rotatably supported concentrically about the hub. Bearings 66 are provided between the hub and sleeve and bearings 71 between the sleeve and skirt. The bearings 71 comprise rollers between races 72, 74, the race or races 72 being fixed relative to the rollers and the race 74 having a vertical dimension sufficient to permit the second race to slide vertically relative to the first. In operation, lubricant pumped via a bore 45 lubricates a lower bearing and seal 22, the bearing 23, a step bearing assembly 55, bearings 66, 71, the ring gear and pinion 64, 76 and the bearing 65. Hydraulic fluid, pumped via inlet 30, raises a support piston 27 and hence the crushing mantle 60 to the desired position. Tramp material entering the gap opens a preset check valve 32 and relieves the head in known manner, speed and certainty of response being facilitated by the bearings 71.
