Abstract
1232215 Hydraulic reciprocating motors and pumps VON ROLL AG 5 July 1968 [7 July 1967] 32321/68 Heading F1A In a tilted or tilting head hydraulic pump or motor the drive plate is supported by a thrust bearing comprising a roller bearing and a hydrostatic bearing, the hydrostatic bearing being operative when the unit is working at highpressure. As shown in Fig.1, the hydrostatic bearing is formed by oil introduced for the cylinders (not shown) between a stater 14 and a rotor ring 13 by means of a throttle device, Fig. 5, duct 15, and an annular groove 16; the roller bearings 12 are dispersed between rotor rings 13 and 11. When the unit is operating at lowpressure the shear force of the oil exceeds the frictional force of the roller bearings and rotor ring 11 rotates relative to ring 13; at higherpressures, the frictional forces are reversed and ring 11 remains stationary while ring 13 rotates. In a variable unit Fig.2 (not shown) a stater is in the form of a bowl and supports a rotor ring, oil is introduced between their adjacent surfaces via bores having non-return valves, and channels from the external surface of the stater. The throttle device, Fig. 5, comprises a hollow piston 28; having a tapered portion 28, urged towards an infeed 30 by a spring 29. At low operating pressure oil flows into compartment 35 by means of a channel 32, compartment 33, and throughbored unit 34 with little throttling; at higher-pressures the oil undergoes more throttling. A measuring piston Fig.6 (not shown) may be arranged before the piston to reduce the size of spring 29.
