831,018. Metal floors. UNTERNEHMUNGEN DER EISEN-UND-STAHLINDUSTRIE A.G. FUR. Sept. 9, 1957 [Sept. 10, 1956], No. 28372/57. Class 20(4) A metal floor, particularly for bridges, comprises a flat top plate 1 and a number of longitudinal stiffeners 2 welded to the underside of the plate 1, each stiffener and a portion of the top plate situated immediately above it constituting a body of hollow triangular section with its apex pointing downwards. For further stiffening the lower edges of the stiffeners may be connected by transverse members 5. Each stiffener may comprise a steel plate bent to V shape and strengthened by a bar or pre-stressed wire secured into the bottom of the V. Alternatively, the floor may be formed of elements of triangular section welded at their upper edges so that the upper sides collectively form the top plate.
