Abstract

689,468. Pallets for handling loads. FISHER & LUDLOW, Ltd. April 16, 1951. [April 18, 1950] No. 9433/50. Class 78 (iv). A pallet is supported from the ground by a plurality of separately formed vertical metal strips 15 (Figs. 3, 6 and 7) each extending between opposite sides of the pallet and bent so as to present, in plan view, at least three integrally connected channel portions 16, with adjacent channels oppositely directed. The load supporting base of the pallet is preferably flexible and may comprise either a wire mesh or, as shown, bars 19 of shallow rectangular section to which may be welded wire mesh 22 (Fig. 7). The bars 19 are preferably welded in recesses 20 (Fig. 3) in the strip 15 to lie flush with the upper edges of the strips, and adjacent recesses 20 in each strip preferably lie on opposite sides of the mean longitudinal axis of the strip. The Specification states suitable dimensions for the strips 15 and bars 19.
