Abstract

830,016. Coaxial line networks. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Dec. 30, 1957 [Dec. 28, 1956], No. 39458/56. Class 40 (8). D.C. insulation is provided in a coaxial line by cutting the inner conductor and placing a layer of dielectric between the cut end surfaces to form a capacitor at the adjoining ends, the radial dimensions of the inner and outer conductors 1 and 2 are increased in the same constant proportion up to a plane 3-3 to form members 5 and 6 and provide a line of substantially constant characteristic impedance. At the plane 3-3 a thin layer 4 of mica, well mixed with silicone grease, is interposed between the members 5 so that they are coupled by a capacitor. The radial dimension of the members 5 at the plane 3-3 is such as to provide the desired capacitance with a low impedance at the working frequency.
