554,092. Adjustable networks. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. July 10, 1942, No. 9607. Convention date, Aug. 23, 1941. {Class 40 (iii)] A single network which gives adjustable phaseshift and separately adjustable attenuation and which may be designed to have an image impedance which is a constant pure resistance over a wide range and is not materially changed by adjusting the attenuation or phase-shift is of the bridged-T type and comprises reactive elements in the series, shunt and bridging arms and a resistance element or elements in series or shunt with the reactive elements in either or both of the shunt and bridging arms. The resistance controls are preferably ganged and the reactance controls also are ganged. Typical arrangements are shown in Figs. 9, 12, 15 and 19. Numerous other arrangements are illustrated.
