Class 82(2) [Also in Groups XXII and XXIX] In welding, soldering or coating using a main flame 1 and a powder 5, the powder is introduced into the reducing zone of the main flame 1 with the aid of additional flames 6 or streams of inert gas e.g argon or carbon dioxide, preventing lateral deviation of the powder, and is liquefied and carried by the main flame 1 to the working point. The additional flames or gas streams 6 may be parallel to the main flame 1 and the powder jet issues centrally of the other flames or streams at an angle to the main flame. All the jets may issue from one or separate nozzles and additional powder and flame jets may be provided For welding the powder may be a flux.
