829,847. Cutting plastic strips. WOLF, P. Jan. 13, 1958 [May 13, 1957], No. 1174/58. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXX] Strips of confectionery, soap or the like are cut into pieces, and the pieces spaced, by a machine which pushes the strips past cutters and over a grid, whereby alternate cut pieces move along the grid bars and the cut pieces between them are pushed down between the bars on to a conveyer belt and temporarily held back on the belt. A pusher bar 1 is horizontally reciprocated by a cam 27 acting through adjustable linkage 16-23, Fig. 3, and a cross-piece 10 carrying a row of plungers 9 is vertically reciprocated by cams 32 acting through push rods 30. The bar 1 pushes the material through the row of cutting wires 3, so slicing it, and at the same time this material pushes previously cut slices 5a, Fig. 2, along the battens of the grid 7 while the cross-piece 10, descending, brings down the plungers 9 on the pieces 5b between the battens and pushes them on to the conveyer belt 6, where they are temporarily held back by adjustable braking fingers 13 attached to the cross-piece 10, resulting in the cut piece being spread on the conveyer belt at predetermined distances from each other, Fig. 1. The plungers are adjustable by screws 11, Fig. 1, and the cross-piece 10 is adjustably carried on the push rods 30. The length of the slices is adjustable, owing to the link 20 being of variable length and its connection with the lever 22 being adjustable in a slot 21.
