Abstract
654,879. Cutting blocks from rods of icecream &c. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. April 10, 1948, No. 10064. [Class 87 (ii)] Two rods of ice-cream 11 are cut into blocks 32 by knives 31 which are reciprocated towards each other and also longitudinally of themselves, to provide a sawing action. The rods of icecream are supported by rods 13, and a pivoted table 14 which is normally held against the lower end of the ice-cream. The table is pivoted downwardly by a cam 24, to allow the rods of ice-cream to fall by an amount equal to the thickness of the blocks to be cut. After cutting, the table is pivoted to the position shown in Fig. 1, to allow the cut block to be removed by a forked transfer member 63 to a pocket 62 in a conveyer. The construction and operation of the transfer member is the subject of Specification 654,908. The knives are mounted in slides 28 which are reciprocated towards each other by cams 46. Simultaneously, the knives are reciprocated, to provide the sawing action, by links 61 actuated by a cam, see Fig. 2 (not shown). The knives may have plain or serrated edges.
