Class 47 A fire extingusher comprises, a bracket 1 having lugs 4 for supporting a flat bottomed glass flask 5 of fire extinguishing liquid, and beneath the lugs 4 a spindle 6 carrying a coil spring 8, one end of which carries a hammer 11 and is held, with the spring tensioned, by a fusible link 12, 13 the hammer being adapted to break the flat bottom of the flask when released by fusion of the link. The hammer 11 carries a blank cartridge 15 which explodes to give an audible warning when the hammer strikes the container.
