Abstract

<PICT:0828236/IV(c)/1> Apparatus for liquid treating a textile web comprises one or more perforated guide rollers 6 positioned beneath the surface of the liquid in a vat and around which the web a passes, the perforations 9 being in an outer shell running on bearings 8 mounted on a fixed hollow shaft 7, which shaft is connected to a vacuum pump and is provided with one or more longitudinal slots 10 co-operating with the holes 9. The guide rollers 6 may be used in either a jigger type machine in which the liquid exhausted by the pump is returned to the vat below the liquid level, or in apparatus in which the web zig-zags through the vat under the rollers 6 and over upper un-suctioned rollers 6 mounted above the liquid, the liquid in this case being returned to the vat as sprays acting upon the web above the liquid level.
