Abstract

Apparatus for dyeing, sizing, bleaching, impregnating, coating &c. textile fibres and materials in open width and so on form, is described for a sizing operation, Fig. 1, in which sonic to ultra-sonic vibrations are applied to the treatment liquor in a steam coil heated tank 10 by means of transducers 20 spaced across the width of the tank. In a modification, the transducers 44, Fig. 4, are adjustably immersed in a separate liquid contained in a tank 40 within the treatment tank. In yet a further modification the transducers 32 are mounted within a roller over which the fabric and so on passes (see also Group XIII). Both modifications are shown in Fig. 4. The apparatus may also be used in machines of the "Jigger" type, or where the material is arranged in pleats in a tank, or the dyeing may be carried out on material in package form positioned around spindles through which the treatment liquor is circulated.
