Abstract
827,995. Wrapping machines. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Jan. 10, 1958 [Jan. 11, 1957], No. 1154/57. Class 94(1). Apparatus for sealing wrapper folds of packages comprises opposed belts engaging the packages between them, at least one belt being heated by heated spring loaded fingers engaging its rear sur- face. The heated belts 10 each run over rollers 18, 19 on bell-cranks 20 which are pivoted by cam means (not shown), enabling the entrance between the belts to be temporarily widened as a package is fed between them by means 54-58. The latter is part of a machine as described in Specification 684,252, the products of which may be sealed by the present apparatus. Spring loaded fingers 45 are pivoted independently on heated tubes 44 to press against the belts. A preheater 42 may be associated with each belt 10. The heated belts may be followed by belts 48 cooled by air jets 53. Opposed belts may be adjusted towards and away from each other by threaded shafts 36.
