827,837. Underpinning buildings. PYNFORD Ltd. March 1, 1956 [Dec. 30, 1954; March 1, 1955], Nos. 37664/54 and 6046/55. Class 20(2) A supporting pier for underpinning buildings comprises two horizontal metal plates C<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>2</SP> connected by vertical pins D. Numerous arrangements of pins and stiffening members for connecting them are described such as angle members L, Fig. 4, or channel, H-section, tubular, square section or flat members welded to the pin. In Fig. 2 a pier comprises a concrete block A with an assembly C<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>2</SP>, D secured above and below it by rods F and which is intended to be inserted in an opening cut in a wall E requiring underpinning, the space remaining above it being filled by a concrete slab J.
