Abstract

Derivatives of tetrazaporphins which bear aromatic substituents containing sulphonic acid groups and primary amino groups are made by condensing a tetrazaporphin sulphonic acid chloride with an arylsulphonic acid containing at least two primary amino groups by splitting off one mol. of hydrogen chloride per mol. of diaminoarylsulphonic acid and, when using less than the amount of the diamino arylsulphonic acid equivalent to the sulphonic acid chloride groups of the tetrazaporphin, the unreacted sulphonic acid chloride groups are saponified or further reacted with ammonia and/or a primary and/or secondary aliphatic monoamine or their salts with weak acids or with a monoaminoalkyl- or -arylsulphonic acid or with a monoaminohydroxyarylsulphonic acid. Tetrazaporphin sulphonic acid chlorides specified include those of metal and metal-free phthalocyanines. Examples are given.
