Abstract

The invention comprises tetraphenylphthalocyanine dyestuffs of the formula <FORM:0922827/IV(a)/1> in which Q is a tetraphenylphthalocyanine residue, R is alkylene or arylene, Z is a substituted or unsubstituted mercapto or amino group and n is 1 or 2, and in which the residues Q, R and Z together contain at least two sulphonic acid groups. The dyes are made by condensing a phthalocyanine dyestuff of the formula Q-[-SO2-NH-R-NH2]n in which Q, R and n are as above, with a triazine of the formula <FORM:0922827/IV(a)/2> in which Z is as above, or with a trihalogen triazine and then replacing one of the two remaining halogen atoms by a substituted or unsubstituted mercapto or amino group; or by condensing a tetraphenylphthalocyanine sulphonic acid halide with a triazine of the formula <FORM:0922827/IV(a)/3> in which R and Z are as above and either choosing the starting materials so that the product contains at least two sulphonic acid groups, or reacting only one sulphonic acid halide group of a polysulphonic acid halide and hydrolysing the remaining acid halide groups to sulphonic acid groups. Examples are given. The dyes dye and print fibres of polyvinyl alcohol or of natural or regenerated cellulose in conjunction with a treatment with alkali in green shades.
