Abstract

A greenish navy-blue dye is prepared by fusing with alcoholic caustic alkali at 110-160 DEG C. a compound of the formula <FORM:0728572/IV (c)/1> in which X is chlorine or bromine, until the resulting product is substantially free of halogen. The said compound is prepared by condensation of 6Bz.1-dibromo- or dichloro-benzanthrone with pyrazolanthrone. An example describes the process using caustic potash and methanol at 140-145 DEG C.
