[Also in Group XL (c)] A gamma-control circuit comprises an adjustably non-linear amplifier which is restored to a linear condition during a part of the time in which a signal, including a repetitive datum level, is applied to the amplifier so that the datum level is brought to a predetermined potential by clamping means following the amplifier. When the input voltage to valve 3 falls below a certain value the valve 8 conducts due to common cathode resistor 7 and lowers the output potential. The valve 8 may be prevented from conducting by a negative potential applied to its first grid from the anode of the valve 12, due to a positive pulse applied to the terminal 14, or the valve 12 may be replaced by a diode and a negative pulse applied to its cathode.
