Abstract

597,194. Pulse generators. RATSEY, O. L., and WRIGHT, C. S. Aug. 11, 1945, No. 20692. [Class 40 (v)] A differentiating network CR has its return to the normal state accelerated by means of a biassing voltage V which is several times larger than the maximum input voltage VI and is applied through the shunt arm R of the network to a valve D connected across the output terminals so that it is normally conducting. Diode D clamps terminal B at a low positive potential v until a negative input wavefront drives it negative to cut-off the diode and allow capacitor C to change rapidly towards the high potential +V. When the potential becomes positive again, the clamping action is restored.. For positive wavefronts, the diode is reversed and resistor R is connected to a negative potential source. When very short pulses are required, the network may be fed from another differentiating circuit, and the diode may be replaced by the grid-cathode path of a triode valve to produce an amplified pulse at the anode.
