Abstract
627,057. Impedance networks. SADIRCARPENTIER. Oct. 4, 1946, No. 29705. Convention date, April 30, 1945. [Class 40 (viii)] A network for introducing variable time delay and altering waveform comprises two delay lines connected to one another by a series of elements, each of which only passes current when the voltage across it exceeds a fixed limit. In the arrangement shown, the delay lines 1 and 6 are linked by a number of rectifiers 14, all biassed by resistances supplied from a battery 17. The wave to be changed is applied at terminals 2 and a source of electric pulses is applied to terminals 3. Neither of these oscillations in themselves can pass elements 14, but at points where their effect is additive current flows to line 6 and either of its terminals are used as output. Triode valves can be used instead of rectifiers 14 and the pulse source may act on their control grids. In the case of signals that have a preliminary pilot pulse, the separate pulse source can be dispensed with and line 1 terminated with a mismatch that reflects back the pilot pulse which is made of considerably greater amplitude than the signal.
