Abstract
826,849. Resilient mountings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. June 19, 1956 [June 23, 1955], No. 18137/55. Class 108(3) A resilient mounting for aircraft instruments &c. comprises two wedge-shaped channel members 1, 2, arranged transversely one of the other and the direction of their respective wedge formations being oppositely directed, and two wedgeshaped supports 6, 7, mounted one within each member 1, 2, by means of bonded blocks 8 of rubber, each support 6, 7 being secured respectively to the supported and supporting members (not shown) of the mounting. The oppositely directed channel members 1, 2, are in the form of a unitary, cruciform, floating member. The blocks 8 are supplemented by the action of a coiled spring 13 which is disposed at the centre of the mounting within gaps formed between each of these supports 6, 7. The support 7 is formed in two separate parts each mounted on a respective base plate 10, 10A, which are shaped to engage with a hexagon-shaped plate 12 forming the lower abutment of the spring 13. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), each limb of the channel member 1, 2, and the corresponding portions of the supports 6, 7, are tapered in the direction pointing towards the centre of the mounting.
