826,220. Hose end fittings. RESISTOFLEX CORPORATION. Sept. 24, 1957 [Oct. 4, 1956], No. 29997/57. Class 99(1). An end fitting particularly for a wire braided polytetrafluoroethylene hose comprises a socket 12 having an internal conical surface 18 which grips the braid 11 of the hose against a corresponding conical surface 21 of a sleeve 20 having screwthreaded means 29 which engages an extended internal screw-thread 16 on the socket, and a nipple 35 having an end 38 inserted into the tube 10 of the hose, an annular seat 39 for fluid-tight, metal-to-metal engagement with an annular surface 26 of the sleeve and an external screw-threaded portion 40 which screws into the part 16 on the socket so that the nipple 35 and screw-threaded means 29 operate independently on sleeve 20 to preclude relative movement after assembly. The sleeve 20 has an internal bore 22 fitting the outside of tube 10, two or more annular ribs 24 and a shoulder 25 against which the end of tube 10 abuts. In a modification, Fig. 5, a screw-threaded ring 51 may be used in conjunction with sleeve 20a which may have three ribs 24a, the socket 12a being provided with a bell-mouth, a constricted bore 15a, a locknut 65 and two or more annular grooves 61 to further secure the hose braid. The sleeve may be tightened in the socket by the provision of slots in the screw-threaded part or the end bore may be shaped to receive a standard tightening wrench.
