825,424. Silos. AGENIE, J. Sept. 7, 1956 [Sept, 8, 1955], No. 27425/56. Class 20(1) A metal silo has a triple peripheral wall and a double-walled roof to permit the circulation of air. The intermediate wall consists of steel plate panels 1, Fig. 1, supported by Z-shaped uprights 2, Fig. 3, the inner wall consists of inclined plates 5 attached at their upper ends to inner flanges of the uprights and the outer wall is formed of vertical plates 6 attached to outer flanges, the plates 6 being shaped to provide covered apertures in the wall. The roof is in the form of a truncated pyramid and is formed by plates 7 and 8 disposed in spaced relationship to provide roof channels C 2 which are continuous with inner wall channels C between the members 1, 2 and 5, but separate from outer wall channels C 1 between the members 1, 2 and 6. Plates 7 and 8 are joined at their upper ends to concentric shafts 9 and 10 respectively, Fig. 4. The inner shaft 9 has a series of holes 11 at its lower end which connect channels C 2 with the silo interior. A tubular body 12 having an upper reduced part 13, to which is attached a hood 14, is freely operated within the shaft 9 by a lever system 19, 20, 21. Around the perimeter of the hood a cover 16 is fitted having U-shaped leak proof gaskets 17 which sealably engage with shaft 10. A series of inclined slots 18 are fitted to the cover's lower surface to prevent entry of rain into the silo when open. Disinfectant may be supplied to the silo by a valve 15 fitted to the hood.
