Abstract

689,928. Gas holders. CLAYTON SON & CO., Ltd. Jan. 17, 1952 [Jan. 3, 1951], No. 207/51. Class 54. The sheets 1, Fig. 6, forming a gasholder or gasholder lift are provided with horizontal flanges 2a, 2b by means of which they are secured together. The flanges are connected by either rivets or welding, and the flanges 2b may be shorter than the flanges 2a to facilitate welding or to allow for caulking. Each sheet or each alternate sheet may have only one flange and the unflanged edges arranged to overlap adjacent sheets. Vertical stiffeners 6, Fig. 5, may be used to provide rigid connections between each panel of sheets and plate gussets 9 may be welded between the flanges and the stiffeners.
