Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent frost heave of the soil around the tank bottom portion after installation of a low-temperature tank. CONSTITUTION:A double-wall bottom 2 of sealed structure is provided in the bottom portion of a low-temperature tank comprising an outer tank 1 made of reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete. After this low-temperature tank has been tugged to the installation site and installed in situs the double-wall bottom 2 is provided with openings 13 and 14 for communicating the interior with the outside air. Because the tank bottom portion is prevented from direct contact with the soil, the frost heave of the soil is prevented.
