825,355. Drive for cutter bar assemblies. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. June 17, 1958 [June 18, 1957], No. 19372/58. Class 6(3). A drive mechanism 19 for a cutter bar assembly 10 comprises a crank 25 rotating about a fixed axis, a link 30 having a fixed pivot 29 at its upper end, and a bell crank lever 34 pivoted at 31 to the link 30 and at its ends to the crank 25 and a pivot 36 respectively, so that when the crank 25 is rotated the link 30 oscillates and the end of the bell crank 34 pivoted at 36 reciprocates, thereby operating a knife 15 to which it is attached. The crank 25 is at one end of a shaft 24 driven through a universal joint 26 and supported in a bearing portion 22 of the body 20 of the drive mechanism from which a rigid arm 27 extends to support the pivot 29. The cutter bar assembly 10 is of conventional type.
