Abstract

203,475. Veritys, Ltd., and Rogers, D. E. July 27, 1922. Mounting.-A fan is arranged for oscillation about either of two independent axes substantially at right-angles by means of one oscillating gear. The bifurcated frame e<2>, e<3> is supported on a column f and is free to turn round the lug e<4>. The fan motor is carried bv trunnions at the ends of the frame e<2>, e' and can oscillate within the frame. At the rear of the motor a crank plate j is driven through worm gear i, i<2> and toothed gear i<4>, i<5>, and the crank pin j<2> on the plate is connected by the telescopic arm l to a fixed peg ni on a plate attached to the lug e<4>. The friction between the two parts of the arm l is insufficient to prevent adjustment of the arm as the plate i rotates, but is sufficient to force the motor casing to oscillate by reason of the connection to the peg m. A lever g works on a pivot g<2> on the frame e<3> and carries at one end a clamping screw h. By adjustment of the screw h, it can be. made to grip the motor casing and oscillation then occurs round the lug e<4>; or, the screw can be operated to cause the lower end of the lever g to grip the collar f<2> on the pillar f, and oscillation then occurs about the trunnions d. The worm wheel i<2> is coupled to its shaft i' by a, member o which can be inserted or removed by hand.
