Abstract

186,429. Railing, A. H., and Angold, A. E. July 1, 1921. Mounting.-An adjustable-throw crank which is adjustable while the crank is in motion and is provided with an indicator showing the throw of the crank, is particularly described for oscillation of a desk-fan in a variable arc. The crank is of the known type which comprises a plate F pivoted at E<1> on a flange E on the driven spindle 0, and carrying a crank-pin G. The plate F is moved about its pivot E' so as to set the pin G at the axis of the spindle 0 or at varying distances therefrom and is held in its required position by a detent formed by curving the plate E and mounting a spring on the pivot E<1> to force the overhanging end J to engage grooves or holes on the upper side of the plate E, which are marked to indicate the eccentricity of the crank-pin. The spindle 0 is driven by reduction gear from the fan spindle.
