825,145. Ink-ribbon mechanism. REGENTROP, P., and BERNARD, H., [trading as REGENTROP & BERNARD.]. Sept. 19, 1956 [Sept. 19, 1955], No. 28620/56. Class 100(4) Spools. In a plastic moulded ribbonspool for typewriters, &c. the means for engaging the usual driving pin comprise radially formed recesses or slots 23, the walls 12 of which form connecting web members between the spool side discs 8, 9, and which, with their radially outermost 13 or innermost portions 10, form either the core of the spool or the central hole for the reception of the spool pin, the wall thickness of all these parts of the spool being substantially equal. The web members have transverse fins 14 which together with the outermost portions 13 of the walls 12 define the core of the spool. The outermost wall portion 13 of one of the recesses 23 is provided with an axial slot 15 for securing, e.g. by a cement, a pointed metal strip used for attaching a ribbon; the core is cut away at 18 to accommodate the end of the ribbon and has flattened portions 19, engagement by ribbon feeding mechanism. In a modification the spool is formed with five recesses or slots and has an internal transverse wall interconnecting the web members formed by the walls of the recesses.
