Abstract

958,113. Injection-moulding spools. WALTER GRAFTON & SON Ltd. Aug. 9, 1960 [Aug. 11, 1959], No. 27489/59. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B8] A spool for, e.g. typewriter ribbon, is produced in an injection mould comprising two parallel platens 30, 31 movable towards or away from one another, two core plates 33, 34 movable towards or away from one another and defining with said platens the flanges 11, 12 and the outer wall of the hub 10 of the spool, a central core member 38 movable normal to the plane of an operative face of a platen, and a pair of opposed cores 39, 40 movable towards or away from one another along the axis of said member 38 with their ends shaped so as together to define a chamber 41, 42 for moulding prongs 22, 23 extending circumferentially around the hub 10. The hub 10 has a central hole 13, an inner wall 14 joined by ribs 15, 16, 17 to outer wall sections 18, 19 which support the prongs 22, 23. The spool may have driving means such as lugs 27 or holes 28. Specification 958,112 is referred to.
