Abstract
1,137,155. Moulding machines. AUTOMOTIVE PATTERN CO. 24 Aug., 1966 [16 March, 1966], No. 38044/66. Heading B3F. A blow plate assembly for feeding moulding sand into a heated core box 18 comprises plates 12, 14, which may form the bottom of a moulding sand container, clamped together and shaped to form between their adjoining faces chambers 36 (34), (Fig. 1, not shown), separated by a partition (44), enabling a cooling fluid, e.g. water, to be circulated around blow tube units 16 aligned with the partition 44 to prevent curing of the moulding sand in the said units 16. The cooling fluid is passed from chamber 36 into an annular chamber formed between a cylindrical member 56, through which the moulding sand is passed, and a jacket member 60, and then passes into chamber 34. The units 16 comprise a flexible tip member shaped to fit a recess in the core box 18 and attached to the unit 16 so as to be radially movable to accommodate misalignment between the unit and the core box.
