Abstract

958,112. Injection-moulding spools. WALTER GRAFTON & SON Ltd. June 23, 1960 [June 26, 1959], No. 22073/59. Heading B5A. [Also in Divisions B6 and B8] A spool e.g. for typewriter ribbon, is produced in an injection mould comprising two flat plates 25, 26 which are parallel and movable towards or away from one another, two cores 29, 30 movable towards and away from one another between the plates and normal to their direction of movement, one core 29 having a recess 34 defining part of the wall 14 of the hub 10 of the spool, and the other core 29 having a projection 35 extending diametrically towards core 29, which projection has recesses to mould an aperture 18 in the hub 10 defining a prong 19. Bosses 27 on plates 25, 26 provide central holes 13 and core members 28 provide recesses in the hub so that the walls of the hub 10 and the flanges 11, 12 are of uniform thickness. Core member 30 forms an opening 15 opposite to opening 18 in hub 10 and this opening 15 allows said core member to be withdrawn.
