Abstract
542,486. Injection-moulding apparatus. DANIELS, Ltd., T. H. & J., DANIELS, J. L., and JOHNSON, A. O. R. May 23, 1940, No. 13637/41. Divided out of 541,377. [Class 87 (ii)] To render the nozzle 25 accessible for cleaning purposes the cross-member 15, which carries the relatively-stationary mould half 17, may be allowed to move to the left from the normal position shown under the influence of its springs 21, 22, by releasing two catches 60, 61. The catches are, during the normal working of the apparatus, disposed in the full-line position shown in Fig. 3, in which position hooks 62 on the catches engage nuts 58 on the free ends of tie-rods 53, 54 secured to the cross-member 15 and passing through apertures 55, 56 in a fixed cross-member 57. The apertures 55, 56 are large enough to allow the nuts 58 to pass therethrough. To release the tie-rods, and hence the cross-member 15, the catches, which are joined by a bar 63, are rocked anti-clockwise on pivots P on the member 57.
