Abstract
PURPOSE:To make a good-tracking recording and reproducing possible with one head element by providing a specific protrusion part on one gap forming face, at least, of cores. CONSTITUTION:Protrusion part 14 where a gap having track width T2 (T1>T2) and gap length g1 shorter than gap length g2 in other parts is formed partially is provided on one, at least, of cores 11 and 12 having track width T1, for example, core 12. Therefore, a large magnetic field is applied to cores 11 and 12 at a recording time, and protrusion part 14 is saturated, and cores are operated as the whole as if they have gap length g2, and the recording width becomes T1. Meanwhile, protrusion part 14 is not saturated at a reproducing time because of a small magnetic field, and gap loss is large in parts having gap length g2. As a result, cores perform reproducing as a head having gap length g1 and track width T2.
