Therefore, a large magnetic field is applied to cores 11 and 12 at a recording time, and protrusion part 14 is saturated, and cores are operated as the whole as if they have gap length g2, and the recording width becomes T1. Meanwhile, protrusion part 14 is not saturated at a reproducing time because of a small magnetic field, and gap loss is large in parts having gap length g2. As a result, cores perform reproducing as a head having gap length g1 and track width T2.
