Abstract

825,053. Commutators for dynamo-electric machines. NAPIER & SON Ltd., D. Jan. 7, 1957 [Jan. 13, 1956], No. 1301/56. Class 35. Commutator bars are secured by more than one inwardly projecting dovetail. In one form, Fig. 1, the dovetails 17 are engaged by six V-rings 20-25 carried on a mounting sleeve 18. The end V-rings 20, 25 are clamped in the usual manner between a lock-nut 27 and abutment 19, while the inner ones are pressed into axial engagement with the dovetails by wedge-shaped split-rings 28, 29 which are expanded by the insertion of the mounting sleeve. In a modified form, Fig. 3, two dovetails 34, 35 are gripped in conventional manner by V-rings 37, 41 and 40, 42 locked respectively by nuts 43, 44 at either end.
