Abstract

The invention comprises chromium complexes of dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0823393/IV(c)/1> which are free from sulphonic and carboxylic acid and sulphonamide groups and where R is the residue of an o-aminobenzene-halogen-carboxylic acid, R1 is an aliphatic or a phenyl radicle or a carboxylic acid ester or amide group and R2 is H or an aliphatic or phenyl residue which may bear in m and/or p-position one or several halogen substituents. They are made in conventional fashion by metallizing the dyestuffs obtained by coupling appropriate diazotized aniline carboxylic acids and pyrazolones. Specified diazo components are 2-amino-4-, -5- and -6-mono-, 3,5-di- and -3,4,5-tri-chlorbenzene carboxylic acids. Specified coupling components are 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-phenyl-5 - pyrazolone - 3 - carboxylic acid ethyl ester and amide, 1,3-diphenylpyrazolone, 1-(41-, 31-mono- and 31,41-di-chlorophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolones. Metallization may be effected in the presence of other metallizable dyestuffs which are free of sulphonic acid groups. The 1,1-complexes may be reacted with colourless complex-forming compounds as in Specification 692,073. The products dye wool, silk, casein wool and leather and poly-amide and -urethane fibres in yellow shades from neutral to weakly acid baths. They also colour organic solutions, plastic masses, e.g. lacquers, varnishes and articles made from cellulose esters or ethers and acetate silk. Examples are provided of the preparation of the dyestuffs from certain of the components listed above and their use in dyeing processes.
