Abstract

The invention comprises complex cobalt compounds which contain one atom of cobalt in complex combination with two molecules of different monoazo dyestuffs of which one is an o - hydroxybenzene - o1 - primary aminonaphthalene - monoazo - dyestuff free from water-solubilizing groups and the other is an o,o1-dihydroxy-monoazo-dyestuff derived from a benzenic diazo component free from sulphonic and carboxyl groups and containing as a water-solubilizing group at least one sulphonamide or sulphone group. They are made by treating appropriate dyestuff mixtures with cobalt-yielding compounds to provide 1,2-complexes. 1,1-Complexes may also be reacted with metal-free dyestuffs. The metal-free dyestuffs are obtained in conventional fashion. Specified diazo components for the naphthalene dyestuffs are 4-methyl -, methoxy -, chloro -, 4,6 - dichloro-and dinitro -, 4 - methyl - or chloro - 5 - or 6-nitro -, 6 - nitro - 4 - acetylamino -, 4 - nitro - 6-acetylamino - and especially 4 -, 5 - and 6-nitro - and 4 - nitro - 6 - chloro - 2 - aminophenols and specified coupling components are 2 - phenyl - and methylaminonaphthalenes, 6-bromo -, methoxy - and methyl - 2 - naphthylamines and especially 2-naphthylamine which may be used as its 1-sulphonic acid vide Specification 756,148. The o,o1-dihydroxy dyestuffs preferably contain at least one sulphonamide group, particularly in the diazo component, specified diazo components being those given above for the o-hydroxy-o1-amino-dyestuffs and 2 - aminophenol - 4 - and 5 - sulphonamides and methyl, phenyl and benzyl sulphones, 4-chloro - 2 - aminophenol - 5 - and 6 - methyl sulphones, 6 - nitro - and chloro - 2 - aminophenol - 4 -, 4 - chloro - 2 - aminophenol - 5 - and 4 - nitro - 2 - aminophenol - 6 - sulphonamides and their N-aryl- or alkyl-derivatives and coupling components specified are 4-methyl-, isopropyl -, tert. amyl - and acetylamino -, 2,4-and 3,4 - dimethyl -, 4 - acetylamino - 3 - methyl - and 4 - methyl - 2 - acetylaminophenol, 1 - n - butyryl -, carbomethoxy -, benzoyl - and acetyl - amino - 7 - naphthols, 2 - naphthol, 6-bromo - and methoxy - naphtholenes, 5 - chloro-and 5,8 - dichloro - naphthols, 1 - naphthol - 4-and 5 - sulphonamides, 2 - naphthol - 6 - sulphonamide and its N - methyl - N - b - hydroxyethyl - amide, 2,4 - dihydroxy and 5 - chloro-8 - hydroxyquinolines, barbituric acids, 1-phenyl - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone and its 31-sulphonamide and 31 - and 41 - sulphonmethylamides, 1 - (21,31 - and 41 - chlorophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolones, 1,3 - diphenyl - 5 - pyrazolone and especially acetoacetic acid isopropyl ester and particularly acetoacetic acid - o -, m - and p - chloranilide, acetoacetanilide, 1 - acetoacetylaminobenzene-3 - and 4 - sulphonamides and sulphonmethylamides and 2-, 3- and 4-methyl sulphones. The dyestuffs dye silk, leather and wool and fibres of superpoly-amides and urethanes from weakly alkaline to weakly acid baths. Examples and a Table are provided illustrating the preparation of the dyestuffs and their use in dyeing wool and superpolyamide fibres in green or blue shades the reactants used being chosen from those specified above and 2-aminophenol-4-sulphonisopropyl- and 4-chloro aminophenol-5-sulphonmethyl - amides and 2 - naphthol - 6 - sulphonmethylamide.
