B. in alkalischem Medium erfolgen.

Process for the production of new cobalt-containing azo dyes It has been found that valuable, new cobalt-containing azo dyes are obtained, which contain one atom of cobalt bound to two molecules of different monoazo dyes in a complex,
if one allows carbon-reducing agents to act on mixtures of an o-oxy-o'-aniinomonoazo dye free of water-soluble groups and an o, o'-dioxymonoazo dye free from st-Ifonsä.ure and carboxyl groups, which has at least one sulfone group as a water-soluble group .
The starting materials used in the present process o-oxy-o'-aminomono azo dyes can be obtained by coupling one of water-soluble groups, that is to say of sulfonic acid and carboxyl groups and of sulfonic acid amide and sulfonic groups, with an o-oxydiazo compound that is free o-position to the amino group coupling aromatic amine,
which is also free of water-soluble substances. The coupling here can be carried out by customary methods known per se, preferably in a pure to neutral medium.
As o-oxydiazo compounds, diazo compounds of o-oxyaniines of the benzene class are expediently used, the benzene nuclei of which in addition to the hydroxyl and amino groups have further substituents such as halogen atoms (e.g. chlorine) , Alkyl groups (e.g.
Methyl), alkoxy groups (e.g. ethoxy), acylamino groups or preferably nitro groups.
Examples of such o-oxyamines are 4-methyl-, 4-methoxy- or 4-chloro-2-amino-l-oxybenzene, 9,6-dichloro-2-amino-l-oxybenzene and, in particular, 4-methyl -5- or -6-nitro-2-amino-1-oxybenzene, 4-chloro-5- or -6-nitro-2-amino-1-oxybenzene, 4-nitro-6-chloro-2-amino-1 -oxybenzene, 6-nitro-4-acetylamino-2-amino-1-oxybenzene, 4-nitro-6-aeetvlamino-2-amino-1-oxybenzene, 1,
6-dinitro-2-amino-1-oxybenzene and especially 4-, 5- or 6-nitro-2-amino-1-oxybenzene.
Particularly suitable coupling components are naphthylamines which are free from solubilizing groups and which can be coupled in the o-position to the amino group. Examples include: 2-pheny 1- or 2-methylaminonaphthalene, 6-bromo- or 6-methoxy-2-aminonaphthalene, 6-methyl-2-aminonaphthalene and, above all, 2-aminonaphthalene itself.
Instead of this last component, 2-aminonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid can also be used, since this acid couples in the 1-position with elimination of the sulfonic acid group and therefore leads to the same starting dyes as the 2-aminonaphthalene itself.
The o, o'-dioxymonoazo dyes, which are used with the just mentioned o-oxy-o'-amino monoazo dyes for the preparation of the mixtures used as starting materials in the present process, can be prepared from sulfone group-containing dye components from sulfonic acid and carboxyl groups are free, such as B.
by coupling an o-oxydiazov compound of the benzene series with a compound coupling adjacent to a hydroxyl group or an enolizable keto group, the coupling component and / or advantageously the diazo component being a sulfone group, e.g. B. may contain a phenyl or methyl sulfone group.
As o-oxydiazo compounds for the manufacture of these dyes come z. B. those into consideration who have been mentioned above for the preparation of the o-oxy-o'-amino dyes. These sulfone group-free Diazov compounds can only be coupled with azo components which contain a sulfone group. You get particularly good results with. Diazo compounds of amines containing sulfone groups such as.
B. the diazo compounds from 2-amino-l-oxybenzene-4- or -5-methyisulfone, 4-chloro-2-amino-l-oxybenzene .5- or -6-methylsulfone, 2-amino-l- oxybenzene-4- or -5-phenyl- or -benzylsulfone.
Examples of suitable coupling components of the specified type are compounds with phenolic hydroxyl group, such as p-substituted oxybenzenes, eg. B.
4-methyl-1-oxybenzene, 4-isopropyl-1-oxybenzene, 4-tert.ramyl-1-oxybenzene, 2,4- or 3,4-dimethyl-1-oxybenzene, 4-acetylamino- 3-methyl- or 4-Methvl-2-acetylamino-1-oxybenzene, 4 Aeetylamino-1-oxybenzene, also oxynaphthalene such.
B. 1-BenzoS-lamino- or 1-ethylamino-7-oxynaphthalene, in-butyrylamino-7-oxynaphthalene, 1-carbomethoxyamino-7-oxynaphthalene, 2-oxynaphthalene-6-bromo or 6 - methoxynaphthalene, 5-chloro- or 5,8-dichloro-1-oxynaphthalene, 1-oxynaphthalene-4- or -5-sulfonic acid amide,
2-Oxynapht.halin-6-sulfonic acid-N-methy'1-N-, B-oxyätliy lamid, 2-Oxy na.plithalin-6-sulfonic acid amide, Oxy quinolines, barbituric acids or pyrazolones such.
B. 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1- (2'-, 3'- or 4'-chlorophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-phenyl-3-methyl- 5-pyrazolone-3'-sulfonic acid amide, the 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-3'- or -4'-sulfonic acid methylamide, the 1,3-diphenyl-5-pyrazolone, the 2,4- Dioxy ehinolin,
the 5-chloro-8-oxy quinoline and especially Ver compounds that contain a carbon atom capable of coupling in an open chain, especially f-ketocarboxylic acid derivatives, eg. B. AeetessigsäLire -isopropylester, but preferably ß-ketocarboxylic acid arylamides such.
B. the acetoacetic anilide, the acetoacetic acid-o-, -m- or -p-chloroanilide, 1-aeetoa.eetylaminobenzene- 3- or -4-sulfonic acid amide, 1-acetoaeetyl- aminobenzene-2-, -3- or -4- methylsulfone, 1 acetoaeetylaminobenzene-3- or -4-sulfonic acid methylamide.
Here, too, the coupling can according to übli chen, methods known per se, for. B. in an alkaline medium.
When carrying out the process, it is generally recommended to use a cobalt-releasing agent containing about one gram atom of cobalt in a mixture of about one mole each of two different dyes of the specified type and / or the metallization in weakly acidic to run in alkaline medium. For carrying out the method 2-1h are suitable, for. B. complex cobalt compounds aliphatic o-oxy or dicarboxylic acids, which contain the cobalt in complex bonds.
In general, however, simple salts of divalent cobalt such as cobalt sulfate or cobalt acetate and, if appropriate, freshly precipitated coconut hydroxide are used.
The dyes are converted into the complex cobalt compounds. with advantage in the heat, open or under pressure, optionally in the presence of appro neter additives such. B. in the presence of salts of organic acids, bases, organic solvents or other agents promoting the complex formation.
The products available according to the described procedure are new. They are complex cobalt compounds that contain an atom of cobalt bound to two molecules of different monoazo dye complex, one of which is a water-soluble (troops-free o-oxy-o'-aminomonoazo dye, while the other is a sulfonic acid) and free o,
o'-Dioxy-inonoazo dye, which has as a water-soluble inaeliende (, doll at least one sulfone group) e.
T any such cobalt-containing mixed complexes can be produced according to the process described at the beginning by allowing cobalt-releasing agents of the type indicated to act simultaneously on two or more of the dye mixtures defined at the beginning. The new cobalt-containing mixed complexes obtained by the above process are soluble in water.
They are suitable for dyeing and printing a wide variety of fabrics, but above all for dyeing animal materials such as silk, leather and especially wool, but also for dyeing and printing synthetic fibers made from super polyamides and super polypropylene. They are particularly suitable for dyeing weakly alkaline, neutral or weakly acidic baths. The wool dyeings obtained in this way are distinguished by their uniformity, their purity and good lightfastness and by very good fastness to washing, milling and rubbing.
In the following example, unless otherwise specified, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 3.08 parts of the dye from diazotized 5 -1 it ro - 2 - aniino -1-oxy benzene and 2-amino naplithalin are mixed with 4,
10 parts of the dye from diazotized 2-amino-1-oxvbenzene- 1-nietlivlsulfon and 1-acetoaeetvlaniino-2-chlorobenzene with the addition of 20 parts by volume of 2n-Natritimliydroxydlösung in 300 parts of 80 water. 20 parts of a solution of cobalt sulfate with a cobalt content of 3.25% are added and the mixture is stirred at 80 to 85 for half an hour.
When the metallization is complete, the dye is separated off by adding sodium chloride and neutralizing with acetic acid, filtered and dried. Bi is a green powder that dissolves in water with green, in concentrated sulfuric acid with a brown color and dyes wool from weakly alkaline, neutral and weakly acidic baths in full green shades with good fastness properties.
The following table lists other complex cobalt compounds which can be obtained by the above process. Columns I and II show the two monoazo dyes bound to the cobalt in a complex manner, and column III shows the shades obtainable from acetic acid bath when dyeing 100 parts of wool with 2 parts of these cobalt compounds.
