Class 126 [Also in Group XII] The amount of combustion air passing to a heater burning liquid or gaseous fuel is determined by the position of a valve 15, Fig. 2, over air passage slots 9 in a housing 11. The valve 15 is pivotally connected to the housing 11 and moves under the action of pressure reductions within the combustion space 18, Fig. 1, acting through channels leading to the housing 11. The combustion space 18 is also connected to a chamber 13 within an unapertured housing 12 by a limited channel 17, in which chamber a valve 14 is rotatably mounted, which in turn is connected to a common rotating shaft 16 together with the valve 15 so that rotation of valve 14 also adjusts the valve 15. An air conduit 21 closed by a valve 22 coupled to a fuel supply cock and an adjustable air spray 23 are fitted to the housing 13 to decrease the influence of valve 14 if desired. In a modification the housing 11 is replaced by a housing 1, Fig. 4, which acts as part of the chimney and which has a balanced wall portion 4 pivotally connected thereto forming a valve which acts under pressure reduction within the housing. The valve 4 has a curved segment 5 to close the opening left in the wall of the housing during inward movement of the valve to prevent air flowing into the housing and so achieve a constant quantity of gases flowing past the valve and maintain an air supply to the heater to maintain maximum combustion. In a further modification the housing 11 is replaced by a valve 24, Fig. 6, in the chimney, which valve is turned by rotation of the valve 14 in the chamber 13 by the shaft 16.
