Abstract

821,134. Vehicle jacks. BROWN TRAC- 'TORS (ENGINEERING) Ltd., D. May 22, 1956 [Feb. 23, 1955], No. 5373/55. Class 79(3) [Also in Group XXX] In order to lift a tractor driving wheel clear of the ground and hence retard movement of the tractor a mechanism is provided comprising an arm s pivotally connectible at one end to the tractor frame and carrying a wheel n at the other, a lever t pivoted to the arm s and connectible to the lower end of a tractor power lift rod r, and a strut u pivoted at v to the lever t and connectible to the tractor frame, whereby hydraulic actuation of the power lift rock shaft p causes the wheel n to engage the ground and lift the nearest tractor driving wheel. As further shown in Fig. 1, a spring is provided along an axis Z-Z between an arm on the rock shaft p and the tractor frame whereby the wheel n and its associated linkage are brought back to their Fig. 1 position on relaxation of hydraulic actuation of the power lift.' The mechanism is stated to be applicable to a tractor towing and driving a combine harvester which may become clogged and enables the drive to the harvester to be maintained whilst arresting travel of the tractor and harvester. The mechanism may also-be applied to a tractor used in hedge trimming to obtain a low speed of travel for the tractor by driving wheel slip. Two such mechanisms may be provided, one for each tractor driving wheel. The wheel n may be replaced by a skid.
