821,037. Spray-producers. ALLIED CHEMICAL CORPORATION. April 26, 1956 [June 28, 1955], No. 12779/56. Class 69 (3). A device for spraying oil into the reaction chamber of an oil gas plant comprises an oil feed line 1 leading to a pipe 3 of larger diameter which is surrounded at its lower end by a water cooling jacket 17 and by an open-ended jacket 7 screwed into an elbow 4 and serving to supply steam to aid in the dispersion of oil from a nozzle 27 which is screwed into the discharge end of the oil pipe 3 as shown in Fig. 1, the nozzle 27, shaped as shown in Fig. 2, comprising an access plug 29 with a central hole 32 and tangential ports 31 through which oil passes to the interior of the nozzle for discharge through a cylindrical throat 38 and a frusto-conical shaped discharge end 39, the areas of the cylindrical throat 38, the tangential ports 31 and the central hole 32 having ratios in a proportion of 1 : 1.5-4.0: 0.3-0.6. Steam supplied to the jacket 7 passes out through channels 34 to disperse the oil. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the jacket 7 is omitted and steam is not supplied to aid the dispersion of the oil. Specifications 683,563, 683,564, 702,249 and 702,252 are referred to.
