820,985. Wall &c. coverings. HOENIG, L. L. March 21, 1958 [March 27, 1957], No. 10033/57. Class 20(4) [Also in Group XXXVIII] Flexible sheet material particularly for covering walls or ceilings and for the construction of false ceilings and partitions, comprises a number of slats 1, 4 assembled edge-to-edge on flexible cords 8 which extend through the thickness of the slats transversely of the length thereof, the edges of adjacent slats being separated from one another over a considerable portion of the length of the slats by forming at least alternate slats at spaced intervals, corresponding to the position of the cords, with bearing surfaces 5 which extend laterally from the edge of the slat and engage the surface of the next adjacent slat. As shown, the slats 4 are of T-section and the edges 6, 7 of the bearing surfaces 5 are of concave and convex form adapted to engage the corresponding edges of the slats 1; alternatively, both edges of the slats 4 are concave and both edges of the slats 1 are convex. When used for acoustic panelling, the material is mounted on and spaced from a wall by battens, the space being filled with glass wool. The slats may be of wood, metal or plastic.
