Abstract

820,464. Zeroizing mechanism. LANDIS & GYR A.G. March 4, 1957 [March 5, 1956], No. 7124/57. Class 106 (1). The invention relates to a numeral wheel counting mechanism such as a synchronous stop watch in which zeroizing of the numeral wheels 3 is effected by disengaging the transfer pinions 7 which are mounted in a rockable bearing 8, from engagement with the numeral wheels 3 and then rotating the numeral wheels forwardly to zero by means of friction clutches such as springs fixed to the numeral wheels and pressing against the spindle 1. The zero position is defined by stops 4 on each numeral wheel which contact abutment members 5 mounted on the bearing frame 8. Each transfer pinion 7 is adapted to co-operate with a buffer spring 14 secured to the counter housing at one end 13 which is adapted to engage a wide tooth of the associated transfer pinion 7 when the bearing frame 8 is rocked to disengage the transfer pinions. Each transfer pinion is thus adjusted for correct subsequent engagement with its corresponding numeral wheel in so far as it may be partially rotated due for example to a transfer being in progress when zeroizing is effected. Springs 12 damp any motion of the transfer pinions.
