Abstract

1430668 Digital clocks JAZ SA 5 Nov 1973 [17 Nov 1972] 51312/73 Heading G3T A time display mechanism comprises a first rotary member 6 carrying hours indicia, a second rotary member 4 carrying minutes indicia with the marks corresponding to 0 and 60 minutes separated by an angle α equal to that between adjacent hour marks, and an indicator 18 which is mounted over the members 4, 6 and moved with the member 6 to keep the indicator on the same hour mark until the hour changes whereupon the indicator moves rapidly backwards through the angle α. The members 4, 6 may thus be coupled directly to minute and hour shafts of a conventional movement. As shown the indicator is a shutter having a window 19 and arms 24, 24a which are pivoted at 23. Projection 25 on the arm 24 is engaged by a snail cam 15 fixed to minute shaft 2 so that the shutter is raised against gravity or a spring during each hour. On the hour, the projection falls on the cam and the shutter drops to indicate the next hour and 0 minutes. The indicator may alternatively be a pointer (7), Figs. 1-4 (not shown) pivoted around the shaft 2 with the cam 15 acting on an auxiliary lever (11) coupled to the indicator. The use of rotor discs or rings instead of drums is envisaged.
