Abstract
820,187. Cathode materials and processing. EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI R. T. April 24, 1957 [April 26, 1956], No. 13098/57. Class 39(1). In the manufacture of an oxide-coated cathode, a mixture of alkaline-earth metal carbonates is impregnated with a solution of a substance capable of forming a basic alkalineearth metal compound when heated with an alkaline-earth metal oxide. The basic compounds may be zirconates, titanates, aluminates, silicates, or berylliates. Two examples are given. (1) A double or triple solid solution of barium, strontium, or calcium carbonates is soaked with zirconium nitrate solution, dried, and then heated in two stages, to not more than 600‹C., and then to 1300‹-1400‹C. (2) A similar method in which the impregnating substance is a colloidal solution of zirconium hydroxide. It is stated that this method of manufacture is effective in reducing the evaporation of barium oxide.
