819,596. Automatic control systems for stranding machines. UNTERNEHMUNGEN DER EISEN-UND STAHLINDUSTRIE A.G., FUR. Dec. 5, 1956 [Dec. 6, 1955], No. 37166/56. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XXV] An electrical speed-control system for a stranding machine for electrical conductors maintains the speeds of auxiliary motors at a predetermined relation to that of the main motor. Each motor 8 on a bobbin cradle 6 and also the main driving motor 2 are associated with tachometer dynamos 10, 9 which supply control currents to a unit 11 which keeps constant the number of revolutions by comparing the current from the dynamos 10, 9 with a predetermined value which can be adjusted by a potentiometer 12. The dynamos 10 are connected to the control unit 11 by leads and sliprings 13, 14 and brushes 15, 16. Transmission gears 17 equipped with brakes or self-locking devices may be provided between the motors 8 and the cradles 6 to prevent accidental rotation of the cradles.
