Abstract

796,930. Exciting dynamo-electric machines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Oct. 9, 1956 [Oct. 14, 1955], No. 29324/55. Class 35. [Also in. Group XXXVII] In a control system for two associated D.C. machines, having separately-excited seriesconnected field systems, an auxiliary winding connected across one field winding augments the flux from the other field winding to provide a speed differential between the two machines. In the Figure, generator armatures AG T , AG B are each directly connected to motor armatures AMT, AMB. The generator and motor field windings MFGT, MFGB, FMT, FMB are respectively connected in series and an auxiliary winding AFGB together with adjustable rheostat DCR is connected across winding MFGT. The field systems are controlled through generator and motor controllers GFc, MFc from a master reversing controller Mc which ensures that the generator fields are at a maximum before the motor fields are reduced.
